Loyalty is to be shaken by a disguise: a bet between the old skeptic Don Alfonso and the two idealists, Ferrando and Gugliemo. They test the fidelity of their fiancées, Dorabella and Fiordiligi, not without putting themselves in an ambivalent situation: they are supposed to be in disguise, crossed over to woo each other's fiancées. If they reach their goal and seduce the foreign bride, they lose the bet and the loyalty of their wives. In the end it is the men who, despite the unwanted success, return to their loved ones, because now they know: That's how everyone does it!

Dietrich W. Hilsdorf's chamber play-like staging of the opera buffa in the dwindling rococo age is convincing in the small house.
