Adventní čas již tradičně v brněnské opeře patří Hrám o Marii Bohuslava Martinů, teď se k nim ještě připojil program věnovaný zřejmě nejoblíbenějšímu vánočnímu dílu – Rybově České mši vánoční.

Láskyplně přezdívaná Rybovka vznikla v roce 1796 a jejím autorem je český skladatel Jakub Jan Ryba, který ke mši napsal i vlastní český text. I když Ryba respektoval části latinské hudební mše, vytvořil vlastně pastorální hru o zvěstování Kristova narození a příchodu pastýřů k jesličkám, která se díky svým svěžím a radostným melodiím stala okamžitě populární a i dnes, více než dvě stě let od svého vzniku, neodmyslitelně patří k vánočnímu období. Rybova mše však nebyla v době svého vzniku jedinou, jednou z jejich předchůdkyní je půvabné dílo moravského kantora Josefa Schreiera Missa pastoralis in C boemica také uváděná jak Moravská mše vánoční „Čuj, Miko, čuj!“, která vznikla někdy okolo roku 1755. Schreierova Mše je vlastně sledem drobných pastorel, které vtipně mísí latinský text s texty ve valašském dialektu, hudebně vychází hojně z moravské lidové hudby pozdního baroka a je tak zajímavým protějškem klasicistní mše Rybovy.

Die Adventszeit gehört bei der Brünner Oper traditionell den Marienspielen von Bohuslav Martinů, doch ab der Saison 2020/21 wird sich zu ihnen noch eine weitere Aufführung gesellen – die Böhmische Weihnachtsmesse. Das wohl bekannteste weihnachtliche Musikstück in diesem Land wurde 1796 von Jakub Jan Ryba geschrieben, von dem auch der tschechische Text stammt. Wenngleich Ryba Teile der lateinischen Messe respektierte, schuf er doch eigentlich ein Hirtenspiel über die Verkündigung der Geburt Christi und das Eintreffen der Hirten an der Krippe, welches dank seiner frischen und fröhlichen Melodien innerhalb kürzester Zeit sehr beliebt wurde und auch heute, mehr als zweihundert Jahre nach seiner Entstehung, noch immer untrennbar zur Weihnachtszeit gehört. Rybas Messe war jedoch zu ihrer Zeit nicht die einzige – zu ihren Vorgängerinnen zählt die 1755 entstandene reizvolle Missa pastoralis in C boemica des mährischen Kantors Josef Schreier, bekannt auch als Mährische Weihnachtsmesse „Horch, Miko, horch!“. Schreiers Messe ist eigentlich eine Abfolge kleiner Pastorellen, in denen der lateinische Text auf witzige Art mit dem walachischen Dialekt vermischt wird. Musikalisch schöpft die Messe stark aus der mährischen Volksmusik des Spätbarocks und bildet damit einen interessanten Kontrast zu Rybas klassizistischer Messe.

The Miracles of Mary by Bohuslav Martinů is traditionally performed during Advent, and from the 2020/21 season it will be joined by a programme devoted to what is probably the most popular Christmas work – Ryba´s Czech Christmas Mass. This piece, lovingly nicknamed the Rybovka, was created in 1796 by the Czech composer Jan Jakub Ryba, who also wrote his own text for the mass. Even though Ryba respected parts of the Latin musical mass, he created a pastoral play about the proclamation of the birth of Christ and the arrival of the shepherds at the manger. Thanks to its fresh and joyful melodies, his work immediately became popular and even today, more than two hundred years since its creation, it is an inseparable part of the Christmas period. However, Ryba´s mass wasn´t the only one to emerge at the time when it was created – one of its predecessors is a charming work from around 1755 by a Moravian teacher named Josef Schreier, Missa Pastoralis in C boemica, which is also performed as the Moravian Christmas Mass “Čuj, Miko, čuj!”. Schreier´s Mass is, in fact, a series of small pastorals with a witty mix of Latin text and texts in the Wallachian dialect. Musically speaking, it takes a lot from the Moravian folk music of the late Baroque and thus is an interesting counterpart to Ryba´s classicistic mass.
