The Violet of Montmartre (1930) is not one of Emmerich Kálmán's most famous operettas - although after its premiere it gained and experienced unprecedented popularity in the Soviet Union - it will certainly enchant our audience with its melodic richness and a touching story worthy of this genre. The authors found the material for the libretto for this classic three-act operetta in Henri Murger's famous novel Scenes from the Life of a Bohemian, based on which Puccini's famous opera Boheme and Ruggiero Leoncavallo's Boheme were created a year later. It is quite possible that Emmerich Kálmán (along with Henri Murger and Giacomo Puccini) partially contributed to the fact that the originally poor Parisian district of Montmartre has become an attraction for foreign tourists to this day...

Fialka z Montmartru (1930) nepatří mezi nejslavnější operety Emmericha Kálmána – byť po své premiéře získala a zažívala nebývalou popularitu v Sovětském svazu – svou melodickou bohatostí i dojemným příběhem hodným tohoto žánru jistě okouzlí naše publikum. Látku pro libreto k této klasické tříaktové operetě nalezli autoři ve slavném románu Henri Murgera Scény ze života bohémy, podle nějž vznikla i slavná Pucciniho opera Bohéma a rok po ní Bohéma Ruggiera Leoncavalla. Je dost dobře možné, že Emmerich Kálmán (spolu s Henri Murgerem a Giacomo Puccinim) svým dílem částečně přispěl k tomu, že původně chudičká pařížská čtvrť Montmartre se stala dodnes lákadlem zahraničních turistů…
