In his fiftieth year, Strauss tried out a new genre for him: lyrical art. Not opera, which seems too risky to him, but operetta where impressive models and unavoidable traditions do not really exist.

After 43 days of hard work, Strauss gives us his sparkling masterpiece.

Success is on the way. The Bat will become the favorite entertainment of a carefree age and, despite historical events and years, will remain so.

Dans sa cinquantième année, Strauss s’essaye à un genre nouveau pour lui :  l’art lyrique. Non pas l’opéra qui lui semble trop risqué mais l’opérette où les modèles impressionnants et les traditions incontournables n’existent pas vraiment.

Après 43 jours d'un labeur acharné, Strauss nous livre son pétillant chef-d’œuvre.

Le succès est au rendez-vous. La Chauve-souris deviendra le divertissement favori d’une époque insouciante et, en dépit des événements historiques et des années, le restera.
