After the last great successes of Nikolaus Habjan and Musicbanda Franui - "But I'm nowhere, oh! at home" in 2020 and "Everything is not true" in autumn 2021 - the successful artistic team will return to the Graz Opera in the 2022/23 season.
The combination of Nikolaus Habjan, celebrated puppeteer, director and artistic whistler who has won numerous prizes, with the East Tyrolean Musicbanda Franui, which sees itself as a "transformer between classical music, folk music, jazz and contemporary chamber music" and the boundaries between interpretation, improvisation, arrangement and (Re-)Composition blurs, has developed idiosyncratic interpretations of individual songs and thus designed whole evenings in a special way. "Die Schöne Müllerin" is now the first song cycle to be devoted entirely to it. The ingenious ensemble will be strengthened this year by the baritone Florian Boesch, who, as one of the most renowned interpreters of contemporary lieder, has already performed from Vienna to London, New York and Sydney

Nach den letzten großen Erfolgen von Nikolaus Habjan und Musicbanda Franui – „Doch bin ich nirgend, ach! zu Haus“ im Jahr 2020 und „Alles nicht wahr“ im Herbst 2021 – kehrt das künstlerische Erfolgsteam in der Saison 2022/23 wieder zurück an die Oper Graz.
Die Kombination von Nikolaus Habjan, gefeierter und mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichneter Puppenspieler, Regisseur und Kunstpfeifer, mit der Osttiroler Musicbanda Franui, die sich als „Umspannwerk zwischen Klassik, Volksmusik, Jazz und zeitgenössischer Kammermusik“ versteht und die Grenzen zwischen Interpretation, Improvisation, Arrangement und (Re-)Komposition verschwimmen lässt, hat bisher eigenwillige Interpretationen einzelner Lieder erarbeitet und damit ganze Abende in besonderer Weise gestaltet. „Die schöne Müllerin“ ist nun der erste Liederzyklus, dem man sich zur Gänze widmet. Verstärkt wird das geniale Ensemble in diesem Jahr durch den Bariton Florian Boesch, der als einer der renommiertesten Liedinterpreten der Gegenwart bereits von Wien bis London, New York und Sydney zu erleben war. Mit ihm ist Franui in einer jahrelangen Zusammenarbeit verbunden, die auf dem im Herbst 2020 erschienenen Album „Alles wieder gut“ eindrücklich dokumentiert ist.
