С первых же постановок опера В.А. Моцарта «Волшебная флейта» пользовалась огромным успехом, и интерес к ней не ослабевает по сей день. Музыка Моцарта в этой опере передает то многообразие жизни, которое он остро чувствовал сам и в котором возвышенное и земное, трагическое и комическое всегда существуют рядом.

Постановка «Волшебной флейты» в театре «Зазеркалье» поистине волшебна не только благодаря своему названию и бессмертной музыке Моцарта, но и за счет использования современных видеотехнологий. «Волшебная флейта» на сцене «Зазеркалья» — настоящая театральная феерия, мудрая сказка, полная чудес, тайн, превращений и даже цирковых элементов. В этой волшебной сказке и персонажи завораживающе-чудесны волшебник Зарастро, мавр Моностатос, Царица Ночи и её феи, принц Тамино, ищущий и спасающий принцессу Памину, весёлый птицелов Папагено, который обязательно должен обрести свою милую Папагену... Волшебная флейта и чудо-колокольчики дадут героям силы преодолеть все препятствия, а мужество принца поможет ему пройти сквозь испытания.

В опере Моцарта, наполненной светом мудрости и добра, переплелось множество философских идей, которые найдут отклик у искушенных меломанов. А для юных зрителей «Зазеркалья» посещение спектакля будет, возможно, первым прикосновением к этому шедевру, чтобы потом, позже, каждый сам мог бы вслушиваться в музыку Моцарта и постепенно постигать ее глубины.

«Постановщик Александр Петров не дает продыху, щедро нашпиговав каждую минуту действия своими придумками. Главная из которых — дело происходит в цирке. … В последних испытаниях Тамино и Памины — огнем и водой — во все зеркало сцены разгораются видеопожары и разливаются видеоводопады. … «Волшебная флейта» — зингшпиль со страшным змеем, летающими мальчиками, превращением старухи в молодку, колдовскими музыкальными инструментами и прочими чудесами… «Зазеркалье» — театр детский, и Петров поставил спектакль для детей, сознательно игнорируя традицию вчитывать в эту оперу всякие политические, философские, трагические и прочие смыслы. Имеет право в конце концов, если б Моцарт и его либреттист Шиканедер не были масонами, музыка-то осталась бы той же самой. … На премьере браво кричали всем и после каждой арии, что доказывает «Зазеркалье» находится в полном контакте со своим зрителем». «В «Волшебной флейте» одной из главных целей режиссера было показать возможности модернизированной сцены своего театра, что ему во многом удалось. Опера получилась вполне в духе эстетики «Зазеркалья» – для семейного просмотра, где и детки смогли заметить признаки любимого жанра фэнтези, и папы сумели прочитать намеки в возбуждающем черно-красном латексном обмундировании трех дам. Моцартовскому задору пришелся очень кстати юношеский пыл и азарт недавних студентов курса Александра Петрова в Театральной академии. From the very first performances of the opera by V.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute was a huge success, and interest in it continues to this day. Mozart's music in this opera conveys the diversity of life that he himself acutely felt and in which the sublime and the earthly, the tragic and the comic always exist side by side.

The production of “The Magic Flute” at the “Through the Looking Glass” Theater is truly magical, not only due to its title and the immortal music of Mozart, but also due to the use of modern video technology. “The Magic Flute” on the stage of “Through the Looking Glass” is a real theatrical extravaganza, a wise fairy tale full of miracles, secrets, transformations and even circus elements. In this fairy tale, the characters are bewitchingly wonderful: the wizard Sarastro, the Moor Monostatos, the Queen of the Night and her fairies, Prince Tamino, who is looking for and saving Princess Pamina, the cheerful bird catcher Papageno, who must definitely find his sweet Papagena... The magic flute and the miracle bells will give the heroes the strength to overcome all obstacles, and the prince’s courage will help him get through the trials.

Mozart's opera, filled with the light of wisdom and goodness, intertwines many philosophical ideas that will resonate with sophisticated music lovers. And for the young spectators of “Through the Looking Glass”, visiting the performance will perhaps be the first touch to this masterpiece, so that later, everyone can listen to Mozart’s music and gradually comprehend its depths.

“The director Alexander Petrov does not give a break, generously stuffing every minute of the action with his ideas. The main one is that it takes place in a circus. ... In the last tests of Tamino and Pamina - with fire and water - video fires flare up in the entire mirror of the stage and video waterfalls spill over. ... “The Magic Flute” is a singspiel with a terrible kite, flying boys, the transformation of an old woman into a pullet, magical musical instruments and other miracles... “Through the Looking Glass” is a children’s theater, and Petrov staged the play for children, deliberately ignoring the tradition of reading into this opera all sorts of political, philosophical, tragic and other meanings. He has the right, after all, if Mozart and his librettist Schikaneder had not been Freemasons, the music would have remained the same. ... “In The Magic Flute, one of the director’s main goals was to show the possibilities of the modernized stage of his theater, which he largely succeeded in doing. The opera turned out quite in the spirit of the aesthetics of “Through the Looking Glass” - for family viewing, where children were able to notice signs of their favorite fantasy genre, and dads were able to read hints in the exciting black and red latex uniforms of the three ladies. The youthful fervor and excitement of recent students of Alexander Petrov's course at the Theater Academy came in very handy for Mozart's enthusiasm.
