In Wolfgang A. Mozart's DON GIOVANNI, elements of light comedy are masterfully intertwined with fragments full of dramatic tension and horror. It is also difficult to say what is more outstanding in this famous dramma giocoso:brilliant music or an absolutely congenial libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte. The narrative of an incorrigible debauchery cannot be compared with the trivial stories that served as the basis for most comic operas of that time. In it, Da Ponte referred to the play EL BURLADOR DE SEVILLA by Tirs de Molina, which was also the inspiration for Molière's DON JUAN. However, it is worth remembering that the love conquests of Don Giovanni served the creators as a scaffolding for a much more momentous intrigue. A promiscuous nobleman dies in the abyss, not for seducing women "in Spain one thousand three", but for the fact that, by mocking the Commander, he disturbed the world order of the dead. All these factors provide this work with countless realizations with filled to the brim audiences of theaters around the world.
