Don Pasquale , premiered at the Théâtre Italien in Paris in 1843 (where Donizetti had settled since 1838), presents a comic story of one deception over another deception; beloved title that has raised more than one smile to the audience of many generations. From the brilliant opening, a masterpiece that ignores the Rossini model, a lively elegance and a perfect symbiosis between music and text are unfolding. A masterpiece of a genius where music is already eminently theatrical.

From the radiant score of Donizetti, according to legend, written in just 10 days, the ingenious production of Damiano Michieletto is still as fun and full of life as ever. With sincerity and dramatic depth, in this current proposal we recognize the characters as archetypes of the commedia dell'arte but of our small world and, immediately, they are moving. Michieletto opens the way to the heart of a seemingly cheerful work, considered the apotheosis of the puppet opera.

The melodic richness, one of the main musical aspects, underlines the farce; an extremely cruel farce such as   Verdi's Falstaff punishment. A very funny and at the same time emotional, disturbing and burlesque comedy.
