Sometimes the world as it is is not enough. Don Quixote knows this only too well and tries to make his big dream come true with the help of music: he wants to be a knight and use his power to make the world a better and fairer place. For this he even fights against giants and dangerous monsters. Or is it all just imagination and the giants are really windmills and the monster his good friend Sancho Panza? As a faithful companion, he never leaves Don Quijote's side on his adventures, even if he sometimes doesn't understand exactly what Don Quijote is dreaming of. Musically, too, he's not always on the same wavelength as his travel companion... But it doesn't matter - the main thing is to have a good time together and to have a lot of fun. Or is there maybe something else? With varied chamber music for various ensembles and the imaginative visual language of the video designer Judith Selenko, this musical family piece shows the »Knight of the Sad Figure« in a new light.

Manchmal ist einem die Welt, wie sie ist, nicht genug. Don Quijote kennt das nur zu gut und versucht, mit Hilfe von Musik seinen großen Traum wahr werden zu lassen: Er will Ritter sein und die Welt mit seiner Kraft zu einem besseren und gerechteren Ort machen. Dafür kämpft er sogar gegen Riesen und gefährliche Ungeheuer. Oder ist das alles nur Einbildung und die Riesen sind in Wahrheit Windmühlen und das Ungeheuer sein guter Freund Sancho Panza? Als treuer Begleiter weicht er Don Quijote auf seinen Abenteuern nicht von der Seite, auch wenn er manch mal nicht versteht, was genau sich Don Quijote zusammenträumt. Auch musikalisch ist er nicht immer ganz auf einer Wellenlänge mit seinem Reisegefährten ... Aber egal – Hauptsache ist, gemeinsam eine gute Zeit zu verbringen und auch mal ordentlich Spaß zu haben. Oder gibt es da vielleicht doch noch etwas Anderes? Mit abwechslungsreicher Kammermusik für verschiedene Ensembles sowie der phantasievollen Bildsprache der Videodesignerin Judith Selenko zeigt dieses musikalische  Familienstück den »Ritter von der traurigen Gestalt« in neuem Licht.
