Die Freiheit, welche unser Hauptprotagonist Wilhelm Tell verkörpert, war nicht nur in der Zeit der Habsburger und der berühmten Schweizer Schlachten wie Morgarten oder Marignano ein zentrales Thema. Heute ist der unerbittliche Freiheitswille präsenter denn je. Regisseur Andrea Zogg hat diesem Schweizer Traditionsstück seine Handschrift verliehen und dessen aktuelle Hauptaussage prägnant inszeniert.

The opera deals with the liberation struggle of the Swiss under the legendary Wilhelm Tell against the rule of the Habsburgs at the beginning of the 14th century.

The freedom embodied by the main protagonist Wilhelm Tell was not only a central theme in the time of the Habsburgs and the famous Swiss battles like Morgarten or Marignano. Today the inexorable desire for freedom is more present than ever.
