Just as easily, his elegant comic opera entered the repertoire of many theater groups and became on a par with other operatic masterpieces of the composer. The plot of the play is simple and funny. The venerable pharmacist Annibala and his new wife, the beautiful Serafina, will have their first wedding night. However, the delinquent lover of Serafina, young Enrico, interferes in the marital idyll of the newlyweds, planning to prevent the pharmacist from entering his wife's bedroom. He constantly rings the bell and comes to Annibale's pharmacy in various guises, playing an opponent with the ingenuity of a true lover.
