Il Paese dei Campanelli, l’operetta italiana più famosa, compie in questa stagione 100 anni!

Ancora vivo e vitale questo lavoro del binomio Ranzato – Lombardo lega il suo successo alla particolare leggerezza ed allegria del testo, unito alle melodie facili e dall’impatto immediato. Si racconta infatti che, già all’indomani della prima rappresentazione al Teatro Lirico di Milano, molti brani venissero cantati o fischiettati per le strade dai milanesi.

Un canovaccio fantasioso con un tocco di esotismo, un variopinto ed immaginario villaggio fiabesco, i colorati i costumi dei protagonisti ed una elegante e garbata drammaturgia, sono i punti di forza di questa edizione del centenario.  La storia ci porta su un’immaginaria isola olandese dove sopra ad ogni casa c’è un piccolo campanile con un campanello. Secondo la leggenda, questi campanelli suonano ogni volta che si verifica un tradimento e a seminare il disordine nel tranquillo Paese dei Campanelli arriva una nave di marinai. In 100 anni è cambiato tutto e non è cambiato niente: il dilemma tra amore coniugale ed extra coniugale è eterno, gli equivoci di una sana commedia che divertono il pubblico senza malizia sono sempre gli stessi, da Plauto in poi.

Cent’anni fa a suonare erano i campanelli… oggi i telefoni cellulari!

The Paese dei Campanelli , the most famous Italian operetta, turns 100 this season!

Still alive and vital, this work by the duo Ranzato – Lombardo links its success to the particular lightness and cheerfulness of the text, combined with easy melodies and immediate impact. In fact, it is said that, already after the first performance at the Teatro Lirico in Milan, many songs were sung or whistled in the streets by the Milanese.

An imaginative canvas with a touch of exoticism, a colorful and imaginary fairy-tale village, the colorful costumes of the protagonists and an elegant and gentle dramaturgy are the strengths of this centenary edition. The story takes us to an imaginary Dutch island where above every house there is a small bell tower with a bell. According to legend, these bells ring every time a betrayal occurs and a ship of sailors arrives to sow disorder in the peaceful Country of the Bells. In 100 years everything has changed and nothing has changed: the dilemma between conjugal and extra-marital love is eternal, the misunderstandings of a healthy comedy that amuse the audience without malice are always the same, from Plautus onwards.

A hundred years ago it was the doorbells that rang… today mobile phones!
