Handel's first oratorio, composed shortly after his arrival in Rome, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno sees four allegorical characters confront each other in flamboyant melodies: Time and Disillusion which oppose Pleasure and Beauty. Gravity against carelessness, “Memento mori” against “Carpe diem”. The score seduces with the inventiveness of its writing and the freshness of its inspiration, the soloists displaying their virtuosity, just like the instrumentalists. This deliberately naive allegory with austere morals is dressed in very musical verses and certain tunes are breathtaking. Because if the supporters of rigor prevail in the dispute, the music, it says something else: the air of Beauty "Lascia la spina" has not finished, by its sensuality, to enchant music lovers. 

Handel's desire to conquer Rome by showing himself to be more Italian than the Italians themselves is reflected in his composition! And you will let yourself be "taken on board" by the genius of a composer here served by a host of leading artists, including Karine Deshayes , under the musical direction of Sébastien d'Hérin .

Premier oratorio de Haendel, composé peu après son arrivée à Rome, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno voit s’affronter quatre personnages allégoriques dans de flamboyantes mélodies : le Temps et la Désillusion qui s’opposent au Plaisir et à la Beauté. Gravité contre insouciance, « Memento mori » contre « Carpe diem ». La partition séduit par l’inventivité de son écriture et la fraîcheur de son inspiration, les solistes affichant leur virtuosité, tout comme les instrumentistes. Cette allégorie volontiers naïve et à la morale austère est habillée de vers très musicaux et certains airs sont à couper le souffle. Car si les partisans de la rigueur l’emportent dans la dispute, la musique, elle, dit autre chose : l’air de la Beauté « Lascia la spina » n’a pas fini, par sa sensualité, d’enchanter les mélomanes. 

La volonté d’Haendel de conquérir Rome en se montrant plus italien que les Italiens eux-mêmes transparaît dans sa composition ! Et vous vous laisserez « embarquer » par le génie d’un compositeur ici servi par une pléiade d’artistes de premier plan, dont Karine Deshayes, sous la direction musicale de Sébastien d’Hérin.
