Isabelle van Keulen, for many years one of Holland's most renowned violinists and known to the general public as a member of the Maestro jury, plays Brahms' Violin Concerto. Polish virtuoso Wieniawski found it unplayable and conductor Hans von Bülow believed it was written against, rather than for, the violin. Fortunately, the Violin Concerto has been a true audience favorite since its premiere. This love is also fostered by Isabelle van Keulen for this work. Only 21 years old, she played it under conductor Collin Davis. "You shouldn't always study what you can already do," he confided to her even then during rehearsal. How brilliantly she can do it is proven by the countless performances she has given of this composition.

Furore made Hartmut Haenchen in the Netherlands as musical director of De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam. Naturalized a Dutchman in 2006, he has remained loyal to our country to this day and has conducted virtually every orchestra in the Netherlands. Since 2022, he has been first guest conductor of the Noord Nederlands Orkest. He conducts this orchestra in two works by Richard Strauss, the absolute master storyteller with music. In Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche, he portrays the adventurous mischief-making of the hero, who pays for it with his life. Equally moving is his Tod und Verklärung, in which a dying old man must face his inevitable end.

Isabelle van Keulen, al jarenlang een van Nederlands meest gerenommeerde violisten en bij het grote publiek bekend als jurylid van Maestro, speelt het Vioolconcert van Brahms. De Poolse virtuoos Wieniawski vond het onspeelbaar en dirigent Hans von Bülow meende dat het tegen, in plaats van voor de viool geschreven was. Gelukkig is het Vioolconcert vanaf de première een ware publiekslieveling. Die liefde koestert ook Isabelle van Keulen voor dit werk. Nog maar 21 jaar oud speelde ze het onder dirigent Collin Davis. ‘Je moet niet steeds studeren, wat je al kan,’ vertrouwde hij haar toen al toe tijdens de repetitie. Hoe schitterend ze het kan, bewijzen de talloze uitvoeringen die ze van deze compositie heeft gegeven.

Furore maakte Hartmut Haenchen in Nederland als muzikaal leider van De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam. In 2006 tot Nederlander genaturaliseerd, is hij ons land tot op de dag van vandaag trouw gebleven en heeft vrijwel alle orkesten die Nederland rijk is, gedirigeerd. Sinds 2022 is hij eerste gastdirigent van het Noord Nederlands Orkest. Hij dirigeert dit orkest in twee werken van Richard Strauss, de absolute meesterverteller met muziek. In Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche portretteert hij de avontuurlijke kwajongensstreken van de held, die het met zijn leven moet bekopen. Minstens even aangrijpend is zijn Tod und Verklärung, waarin een stervende oude man zijn onvermijdelijke einde onder ogen moet zien.
