If the composers and performers in this early twentieth-century program have anything in common, it is their adventurousness. The Collective does not go too far. A fresh look at the score and a sharp sense of detail go hand in hand with the musicians of this Belgian ensemble. Chances are they're Debussy's Préludegiving wings, making Ives' piano trio sound as if the piece was written yesterday and highlighting Stravinsky and Schönberg with more cunning than the composers themselves could ever have dreamed.

Als de componisten en uitvoerenden in dit vroegtwintigste-eeuwse programma iets gemeen hebben, is het wel hun avontuurlijkheid. Het Collectief gaat geen zee te hoog. Een frisse blik op de partituur en een scherp gevoel voor detail gaan bij de musici van dit Belgische ensemble hand in hand. Grote kans dat ze Debussy’s Prélude vleugels geven, Ives’ pianotrio laten klinken alsof het stuk gisteren is geschreven en Stravinsky en Schönberg gewiekster voor het voetlicht brengen dan de componisten zelf ooit hadden kunnen dromen.
