One of the best pieces of music in the musical genre is based on the story of R.L. Stevenson's "The Strange Story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" is a romantic-philosophical meditation on the struggle between good and evil.

According to the plot, the talented doctor Henry Jekyll decides to conduct an experiment on himself and prove that it is possible to separate the bad and good components of human nature by artificial means. The experiment leads to the fact that the consciousness of the hero is bifurcated, and Mr. Hyde, a ruthless killer who commits atrocities one after another, settles in one corporeal shell next to a brilliant doctor.

The background for the development of the main storyline is the picture of a modern society in which lies, violence and hypocrisy are the norm of life. And in this context, the crimes of Mr. Hyde (whose victims are, first of all, representatives of high society, mired in vices) turn out to be a kind of "sanitary measure". However, we have to admit that Henry Jekyll's experience is failing: dreaming of changing the world, the hero is convinced that evil cannot be defeated and perishes himself.

The musical "Jekyll and Hyde" was written in 1989. A year later, in Houston, at the Alley Theater (Houston), his world premiere took place. By this time, the main compositions of the musical, recorded in a concert version, were already thundering everywhere, enjoying unprecedented success with the public.

Jekyll & Hyde at the Musical Comedy Theater is the second production of the musical in Russia.
