Brahms and folk music
Idea and concept: Rafael Fingerlos and Franz Welser-Möst
After the great success of "Schubert and folk music" in 2021 & 2022, the concert series will be continued as part of the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks and will focus on Johannes Brahms, another composer who is deeply connected to the Salzkammergut.
Together with the folk and world music ensemble Tschejefem, Rafael Fingerlos and Sascha El Mouissi embark on an exciting musical journey from Vienna through the Austrian hereditary lands. The program plays with a humorous how touchingdrawn, autobiographical picture of a legendary immigrant who, not least because of his authentic love for Austrian nature and the culture that is inextricably linked to it, settled in particularly quickly and for whom these cherished impressions served as a deep inspiration for his great, ingenious work. At the same time, it should be a loving reappraisal of the sibling image between Austria and Germany and, last but not least, follow an important purpose: to bring the folk and art song, the (folk) music, partly newly arranged and adapted, to where they belong, directly to the heart the human. Finding what connects the different styles, always at the highest artistic level. Exactly as Johannes Brahms wanted with his arrangements and collections.
The listeners of this extraordinary evening are musically picked up with well-known melodies and surprising arrangements and narrated by Michael Dangl in the world of Johannes Brahms.
