After their much-praised interpretation of Bach's St. Matthew Passion , Simon Rattle and director Peter Sellars also presented a staged version of the St. John Passion in February 2014 . Balancing between contemplation and dramatic power, the concert received standing ovations and was celebrated in the press as a »new Easter miracle«. Leading the excellent cast of singers was Mark Padmore as evangelist.
