Jose Carreras Grand Prix. Closing ceremony
Oratorio / Orchestral
In 2018, for the first time, a unique singing tournament was held, organized by the Elena Obraztsova Foundation - the International Competition for Tenors "Jose Carreras Grand Prix", the jury of which was headed by one of the most famous singers in the world, Jose Carreras. The purpose of the competition is to search for talented vocalists, introduce them to the general public, Russian and foreign managers, stimulate the work of singers on their repertoire, and develop international contacts in the field of opera art. The laureates of the Competition received prestigious theatrical debuts in Moscow and Berlin, performed on the stages of the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and at the Vienna Musikverein. It was decided to continue the successfully launched project by extending the competitive principle laid down in the tenor competition to other operatic voices. The competition is addressed to young performers aged 18 to 32 for soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor voices and from 18 to 34 for baritone and bass voices. Laureates will be determined for each type of voice - 15 awards and one Grand Prix. The competition received 287 applications from 30 countries - Austria, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia , Serbia, USA, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Croatia, Estonia, South Korea, Japan. This year, the jury of the competition, which will again be headed by Jose Carreras, will include world-famous figures from the opera theater: Dame Gwyneth Jones, Dolora Zajik, Makvala Kasrashvili, Rafaella Murdolo, Christina Shepelman, Alessandro Ariosi, Lorenzo Bavai, Dmitry Vdovin, David Jimenez. The Zaryadye Hall will host two events of this large-scale forum: a gala concert in honor of the opening of the competition on November 30 and a closing ceremony on December 6. The competition is held within the framework of the international project of the Elena Obraztsova Foundation "Voices of Heritage" with the use of a grant from the President of the Russian Federation provided by the Presidential Grants Foundation.
