Aaron Copland is een van de belangrijkste grondleggers van de Amerikaanse muziek. Onder leiding van Joshua Weilerstein speelt het orkest zijn Appalachian Spring suite voor orkest. De negentiende-eeuwse componist Florence Price was de eerste Afro-Amerikaanse vrouwelijke componist die een opdracht kreeg van een groot Amerikaans orkest. Haar muziek verdween na haar dood in de vergetelheid, maar krijgt nu weer het verdiende podium. Derrick Skye voegt West-Afrikaanse ritmes, Hindoestaanse klassieke muziek en muziek uit de Balkan toe aan de minimalistische muziek van John Adams.

Aaron Copland is one of the most important founders of American music. Conducted by Joshua Weilerstein, the orchestra plays his Appalachian Spring suite for orchestra. Nineteenth-century composer Florence Price was the first African-American female composer to be commissioned by a major American orchestra. Her music disappeared into oblivion after her death, but is now getting the stage it deserves again. Derrick Skye adds West African rhythms, Hindustani classical music and music from the Balkans to the minimalist music of John Adams.
