Koncert Wrocławskiej Orkiestry Barokowej pod dyrekcją Jarosława Thiela z udziałem solisty Tomáša Krála odkryje bogactwo repertuaru kompozytorów epoki baroku tworzących w Niemczech, Anglii, Włoszech i Szwecji. Przestrzeń bazyliki wypełnią tego wieczoru m.in. dźwięki dzieł operowych  Georga Friedricha Händla, Reinharda Keisera czy Attillia Ariostiego.

W ramach symbolicznego wprowadzenia muzycy wykonają na wstępie uroczystą Uwerturę do opery Alfred pochodzącego z Anglii Thomasa Arnego. Spośród innych dzieł artysty będzie można usłyszeć Con spirito i Largo, czyli części Ouverture g-moll, wieńczącej zbiór ośmiu tego typu utworów. Uwertura poprzedzi szereg kompozycji, w tym pióra Georga Friedricha Händla – w wykonaniu Krála zabrzmi aria z cieszącej się uznaniem opery Rodelinda, ponadto usłyszymy ustępy o charakterze tanecznym: Courante i Menuet z opery Almira czy efektowne Concerto przynależące do partytury Ottone, re di Germania. Artyści przybliżą także fragmenty twórczości operowej Georga Philippa Telemanna, którego z Händlem łączyły nie tylko stosunki zawodowe, ale i przyjacielska znajomość oparta na wzajemnym szacunku i uznaniu. Przez sporą część swego życia działał on w Hamburgu, jednak w momencie, gdy przybył do miasta, o wiele większą sławą owiany był wówczas Reinhard Keiser. Artyści zawzięcie rywalizowali ze sobą na gruncie muzycznym, jednak to Telemann zyskał ostatecznie miano największego kompozytora operowego w Hamburgu. W dorobku operowym Keisera jednymi z bardziej cenionych tytułów są Octavia oraz Fredegunda.

Král wykona również arie z oper Georga Caspara Schürmanna, który w swojej działalności parał się nie tylko kompozycją, ale także śpiewem, co uwydatnia się w jego twórczości wokalno-instrumentalnej, oraz włoskiego twórcy Attillia Ariostiego. Jego opery z powodzeniem wystawiane były m.in. w Londynie, tam jednak przyćmiły je wkrótce dzieła wspomnianego już Händla. Jednym z wybitniejszych uczniów Ariostiego był z kolei pochodzący ze Szwecji Johan Helmich Roman. W jego dziełach wyraźnie widać inspirację Händlowskim językiem kompozytorskim, także w kantatach. Należy do nich zawarta w programie koncertu świecka kantata Festa musicale, skomponowana w 1725 roku z okazji urodzin ówczesnego króla Szwecji – Fryderyka I. Oprócz opery i kantaty artyści sięgną także po partyturę La pace di Kamberga – oratorium Johanna Davida Heinichena, twórcy związanego z dworem Augusta II Mocnego.

The concert of the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra conducted by Jarosław Thiel with the participation of the soloist Tomáš Král will reveal the rich repertoire of Baroque composers creating in Germany, England, Italy and Sweden. The space of the basilica will be filled that evening by m. sounds of opera works by Georg Friedrich Händel, Reinhard Keiser or Attilio Ariosti.

As a symbolic introduction, the musicians will perform a solemn Overture to the opera Alfred by Thomas Arne from England. Among the artist's other works, you will hear Con spirito and Largo, parts of the Ouverture in G minor, crowning a collection of eight works of this type. The overture will be preceded by a number of compositions, including those written by George Frideric Handel – the performance of Král will feature an aria from the acclaimed opera Rodelinda , and we will also hear dance passages: Courante and Minuet from the opera Almira or the impressive Concerto belonging to the Ottone score, re di Germania. The artists will also introduce fragments of the operatic works of Georg Philipp Telemann, who had not only professional relations with Handel, but also friendly acquaintance based on mutual respect and recognition. For a large part of his life, he was active in Hamburg, but when he came to the city, Reinhard Keizer was much more famous at that time. The artists fiercely competed with each other in terms of music, but it was Telemann who ultimately gained the reputation of the greatest opera composer in Hamburg. Among Keiser's opera output, Octavia and Fredegund are some of the most appreciated titles.

Král will also perform arias from the operas of Georg Caspar Schürmann, who in his activity was not only composed, but also singing, which is evident in his vocal and instrumental works, and the Italian composer Attillia Ariosti. His operas have been successfully staged, e.g. in London, but there they were soon overshadowed by the works of the aforementioned Handel. One of Ariosti's most outstanding students was Johan Helmich Roman from Sweden. His works are clearly inspired by Handel's compositional language, also in cantatas. These include the secular cantata Festa musicale , included in the concert programme , composed in 1725 on the occasion of the birthday of the then king of Sweden, Frederick I. In addition to the opera and the cantata, the artists will also use the score La pace di Kamberga – an oratorio by Johann David Heinichen, an artist associated with the court of August II the Strong.
