Seconda opera del dittico dedicato a Nino Rota, La notte di un nevrastenico - a differenza dei Due timidi - venne appositamente composta per la rappresentazione. Nasce nel 1950 dalla collaborazione con il drammaturgo Riccardo Bacchelli e vinse nel 1959 il Premio Italia. La trama si svolge in un albergo dove un nevrastenico insonne ha prenotato una camera ma anche le due adiacenti per evitare di essere svegliato durante la notte. Il portiere dell'hotel, però, concede le due stanze ad altri clienti che ovviamente non consentono al malcapitato insonne di dormire. Alla fine il poveretto riuscirà a cacciare i vicini molesti ma non farà in tempo ad addormentarsi perché sarà già giunto il mattino. Il cast dell'opera, in prima rappresentazione a Sassari, non si discosta molto da quello della pièce precedente.

Second work of the diptych dedicated to Nino Rota, The night of a neurasthenic - unlike the Two shy ones -it was specially composed for the performance. It was born in 1950 from the collaboration with the playwright Riccardo Bacchelli and won the Italian Prize in 1959. The plot takes place in a hotel where a sleepless neurasthenic has booked a room but also the two adjacent ones to avoid being woken up during the night. The hotel porter, however, gives the two rooms to other customers who obviously do not allow the unfortunate insomniac to sleep. Eventually the poor fellow will be able to chase away the annoying neighbors but will not have time to fall asleep because it will already be morning. The cast of the opera, premiered in Sassari, does not differ much from that of the previous play.
