At the courtesan Magda de Civry's salon, the poet Prunier takes to the piano to show off his latest song: the story of a woman named Doretta.

But he's stuck. He can't figure out how Doretta's story should end. So the hostess herself leaps in, with verses of true love in the aria "Chi il bel sogno di Doretta," part of this weekend's #OperaIsON streaming special, "La Rondine."

Superstar soprano Angela Gheorghiu stars in this rarely staged romance from composer Giacomo Puccini, infusing every lyric with Magda's own uptapped desires.

"Who could ever guess Doretta's beautiful dream?" Magda sings. "One day a student kisses her lips, and the kiss was a revelation. It was passion! A crazy love! An intoxicating madness! What words could ever capture the subtle caress of such a fiery kiss?"
