AGAO (Asociación Gayarre Amigos de la Ópera) presents “La Revoltosa” and “La verbena de la Paloma”, two of the most renowned zarzuelas of all time. “La Revoltosa”, with a text by José López Silva and Carlos Fernández Shaw, was premiered in 1897 at the Apolo theater in Madrid and represents, together with “La verbena de la Paloma”, the pinnacle of the small genre. Both librettos are a faithful reflection of the neighborhood environments of the late nineteenth century and transfer to the stage all the feeling of the reality of Madrid in those years. The performance features a cast of highly outstanding lyrical theater singers and actors accompanied by the Navarra Symphony Orchestra and the AGAO Choir, all of them directed by Maestro Jose Antonio Irastorza.
