Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes performs Furiant from his album Poetic Tone Pictures Op.85, a collection of rarely known piano works by romantic composer Antonín Dvořák.

Ao longo de quatro anos intensos, o pianista norueguês Leif Ove Andsnes imergiu na obra de Beethoven, a ponto de afirmar uma absoluta identificação com o compositor alemão: “Essa é parte do entusiasmo – tornarmo-nos no compositor”, disse em entrevista. “É um verdadeiro privilégio dedicarmo-nos a um compositor e tentarmos compreender o que o mestre estava a criar.” Andsnes foi-se depois focando novamente noutros grandes autores, mas continuou a transportar consigo todo o conhecimento e sintonia que aprofundou na sua relação com Beethoven, agora em diálogo com compositores como Janáček, Vustin ou Dvořák.

Over four intense years, the Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes immersed himself in the work of Beethoven to the point where he fully identified with the German composer: “That’s part of the excitement – becoming the composer,” he said in an interview. “It’s a real privilege to dedicate yourself to a composer and to try and understand what the master was creating.” Andsnes later focused on other great composers, but he continued to carry all the knowledge and synchrony of his relationship with Beethoven but in dialogue with figures like Janáček, Vustin and Dvořák.
