Summer, 1933. Even in the midst of the Great Depression, in the Nevada heat, hopes run high that the newly elected FDR will overturn Prohibition. But in the meantime, Dulcamara is said to be selling some very strong elixir behind the screen at Adina's picture house...
An explosion of love, laughter and beautiful bel canto melodies. Donizetti's beloved Italian opera is set in a movie theater, where Adina, the lovely projectionist, allows a little bootlegging to go on behind the scenes.
