Jacques Offenbach, in alliance with librettist Jules Barbier, in his work refers to three well-known short stories by Hoffmann, uniting them with a common plot.

The plot is based on three completely different love stories that ended tragically for Hoffmann himself. Fantastic visions of a brilliant poet looking for love in a complex and contradictory world, the inability to find spiritual harmony, the experiences of the protagonist - these are the main problems raised by the authors of the work and the directors of the play.

The opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" is a fantastic performance, a difficult production work, unusual musical material, a complex dramatic line.

A mysterious world filled with extraordinary characters is revealed to the audience. People and dolls, love and mysticism - this is an encyclopedia of the creator's mental states, whose mysterious world is revealed step by step in the beautiful music of Offenbach and the dramaturgy of the play.

In different scenes of the opera, diametrically opposite female images appear - the beloved of the protagonist (Olympia, Juliet, Antonia, Stella). Other heroes are also striking - mocking, insensitive and cruel people surrounding the poet. All the characters, uniting in the mind of Hoffmann, also excite the imagination of the audience.

In this great creation of Offenbach, thanks to the triumph of music, unusual form and content, the imagination and artistic perception of the viewer will allow a fresh look at the relationship between man and society, man and woman, muse and poet.

Жак Оффенбах в союзе с либреттистом Жюлем Барбье в своем произведении обращается к трем известным новеллам Гофмана, объединяя их общим сюжетом.

В основе сюжета три совершенно разные любовные истории, закончившиеся трагически для самого Гофмана. Фантастические видения гениального поэта, ищущего любовь в сложном и противоречивом  мире, невозможность обрести душевную гармонию, переживания главного героя – вот основные проблемы, поднимаемые авторами произведения и постановщиками спектакля.

Опера «Сказки Гофмана» – фантастический спектакль, непростая постановочная работа, необычный музыкальный материал, сложная драматургическая линия.

Перед зрителями раскрывается таинственный мир, наполненный необыкновенными персонажами. Люди и куклы, любовь и мистика – это энциклопедия душевных состояний творца, таинственный мир которого шаг за шагом раскрывается в прекрасной музыке Оффенбаха и драматургии спектакля.

В разных картинах оперы появляются диаметрально противоположные женские образы – возлюбленные главного героя (Олимпия, Джульетта, Антония, Стелла). Поражают и другие герои — насмешливые, бесчувственные и жестокие люди, окружающие поэта. Все герои, соединяясь в сознании Гофмана, будоражат и воображение зрителей.

В этом великом творении Оффенбаха, благодаря торжеству музыки, необычности формы и содержания, воображение и художественное восприятие зрителя позволит по-новому взглянуть на взаимоотношения человека и общества, мужчины и женщины, музы и поэта.
