Lucia of Lammermoor is a famous work by Gaetan Donizetti, the Italian master of operas, both serious and comic, which premiered in Naples in 1835. It is an extremely moving musical tragedy, based on the novel by Walter Scott The Bride of Lammermoor. The romantic emotionality, great emotions of the heroes - with family and political intrigue in the background - will take viewers to Scotland at the end of the 16th century. Arias and duets, captivating with the beauty of melodies, as well as a classic and at the same time tragic love triangle, have been moving successive generations of Italian opera fans for over 185 years. Donizetti turned out to be a worthy successor to the great Gioacchino Rossini, gaining recognition not only in his homeland but also in France. Łucja of Lammermoor leads the viewer from the mood of a love idyll and a promise of happiness to an unexpected, tragic ending.
