"Director Mariame Clément has succeeded in combining the two cantatas scenically so skillfully that the works enrich each other dramatically." (FAZ) / "... absolutely worthwhile." (concerti)
In his cantata “La Lucrezia”, Georg Friedrich Handel creates the portrait of a woman who goes her own way after a traumatic experience. In her cantata "Faust et Hélène", with which Lili Boulanger was the first woman to win the "Prix de Rome" in 1913, Faust meets "the beautiful Helena", whom he summons from antiquity with the help of Mephisto. The female characters Lucrezia and Helena combines her experience of violence and the public debate about her alleged guilt. Is there an escape from this fatal system?
