For the first performance of the night, the new work by artist and composer Rodgman is a natural counterpoint to Reich’s Different Trains.

An exploration of speech, history and memory, Different Trains was premiered in the very same venue – our Queen Elizabeth Hall – in 1988.

For the second event of the double bill, we move into the impressive brutalist surroundings of the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer for minimalist greats and reimagined classics into the night.

It’s classical music – but not as you’ve ever known it before.

Known for their experimental programming and daring collaborations, Manchester Collective is a Southbank Centre Resident Artist.

They perform a combination of cutting-edge contemporary music, classical masterpieces, and staged work to a hungry, new audience.

British-Malaysian artist and composer Jasmin Kent Rodgman brings together the contemporary classical, electronics and sound-art worlds to create powerful soundscapes and musical identities.

A regular collaborator across various art forms including dance, word, film and VR, her music explores otherness, memory and connection, and plays with a sense of narrative.
