The name of Maurizio Pollini evokes an invaluable career, the story of a man and an artist recognized throughout the world, applauded by the public and critics of every continent and of numerous generations. For more than 40 years Pollini has been the protagonist in all the most important European, American and Japanese concert halls and festivals and has played with the most famous orchestras and conductors, including Abbado, Muti, Boulez, Thielemann, Rattle and many others. He has been awarded numerous of the most important international music prizes: Ernst von Siemens, Imperial, Royal Philharmonic Society, to name a few. Maurizio Pollini's repertoire extends from Bach to many of the most representative composers of the 20th century – Schönberg, Webern, Boulez, Nono, Stockhausen, Manzoni, Sciarrino – and includes the complete Beethoven Sonatas. Creator of the cycle of concerts "PROSPETTIVE", which explores a vast repertoire ranging from Gesualdo da Venosa to Sciarrino and which testifies to the profound knowledge of music of all times, he was the protagonist, with other important musicians, in Tokyo, at the Festival of Salzburg, at Carnegie Hall in New York, at the Citè de la Musique in Paris, in London, Vienna, at the Lucerne Festival, at La Scala in Milan and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. Exclusive artist of the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, a label for which he has recorded a vast number of records, Maurizio Pollini's interpretations have received many recording awards: Grammy, ECHO, Diapason d'or, Choc de la Musique. In April 2020 Deutsche Grammophon released the first part of a major project related to Beethoven's latest Sonatas - from op. 101 to the op. 111. The box includes the Sonatas op. 109, op. 110 and op. 111 and a live DVD which also includes a conversation with Jörg Widmann on the subject of Beethoven interpretation and contemporary music.
