International Festival of Piano Duets "Duettissimo!" is a unique event on a global scale, dedicated exclusively to this chamber ensemble. The growing importance of the Festival is evidenced by the presence of great stars in its duet editions, such as Stenzl Piano Duo, Genova&Dimitrov Piano Duo, Duo Turgeon, Miroirs Piano Duo, Lutosławski Piano Duo, Ravel Piano Duo, Chopin Piano Duo, Silver/Garburg Piano Duo , Walachowski Piano Duo whose musicians not only appreciated their participation in the Festival leaving Krakow satisfied, but also clearly declared their willingness to return. The main organizer of the event is the Department of Chamber Music of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music. Krzysztof Penderecki in Krakow and the Department of Theory and Interpretation of Musical Works of this Academy, which has been cooperating with it since the beginning of the Festival. As part of this very fruitful cooperation, a nationwide scientific conference is held during each Festival, during which - apart from musical and theoretical reflection - important aspects of musical life and problems of youth and student education are discussed. The organizers invite eminent representatives of cultural circles, scientists - musicologists and practitioners - as well as heads of the most important music institutions in Poland to participate in the conferences. The main goal of the organizers was to restore the piano duo to its proper place in the consciousness of pianists and in concert life, and to popularize the repertoire for this unique chamber ensemble. In the world, this formation quickly gains the interest of listeners and music lovers. Master classes are created, conducted by outstanding teams, in which young adepts of this difficult art can gain new skills. Time for Poland. Kraków, due to its history, tradition and status as a city of culture, seems to be the most appropriate place for the Festival with such a special and unique formula. As part of the Duettissimo Festival, there will also be workshops, master classes conducted by outstanding educators and performances as part of the Young Stage and concerts for children performed by children. We cordially invite you to all events of the Festival. Spring belongs to Piano Duets!
