Professor Higgins has a great idea: he could "cure" his chance acquaintance, the flower seller Eliza, of her bad dialect and make her a lady at the same time. In Colonel Pickering he finds a suitable opponent to whom he wants to prove his skills. Eliza, who doesn't even know what's happening to her, is condemned to language training and manners lessons in the professor's house and a few months later presented to the upper ten thousand.
