The Creation

The new year begins with a musical festival, with Haydn's ingenious late work “The Creation”. His oratorio is much more than the narration of the Christian legend of creation in the spirit of John Milton's "Paradise Lost": It is a great story of chaos and order, enthusiasm for the wonders of nature and the universe, belief in abilities and knowledge of the dangers of man in the sense of the European Enlightenment. Soloists from the opera ensemble, the opera choir and the Nuremberg State Philharmonic are playing “The Creation” as the prelude to a year that aims to make many of the artistic hardships of the last two seasons forgotten.
