The focus of the New Year's Concert at the Anhaltisches Theater is Italy, the country "where the lemons bloom". Let the soloists KS Iordanka Derilova (soprano), Costa Latsos (tenor), the 1st concertmaster Gregory Maytan (violin) and the Anhalt Philharmonic under the direction of their general music director Markus Frank take you on a musical foray through southern climes. The luggage ranges from the symphony movement of the German traveler to Italy Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy to a concert movement by the devil violinist Niccolò Paganini to well-known Italian films, canzons and hits. Operetta music is represented by Franz von Suppé, Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár and Virgilio Ranzato, a master of the original Italian operetta hardly known in this country. With ballet director Stefano Giannetti, there is even a real Italian as tour guide. So then: Buon viaggio e buon divertimento!
