Baroque ensemble Scherzi Musicali presents in  O mio core three opera fragments by Francesco Cavalli on the theme of broken love, directed by Piet Arfeuille.

I close my eyes and dream of yours. For in the ecstasy of desire, man is a God. Immortal, like children carrying the sun in their arms. Don't blow your sighs into me, my love, don't give me a Judas kiss. We don't want to be unapproachable. Refresh my temples, and my scorched lips. oh my core presents three mythical love couples. Jason and Medea, for once in perfect harmony. Love as a dream. Didone and Enea, perpendicular to each other because love invariably has to give way to ambition, the heart to the head. Because men are men, women are women. And finally, the wandering Calisto that immortal Zeus has his eye on. Because man and love are permanent and unique. Even if the environment reflects a destroyed belief in it. With 27 operas, the Venetian Baroque composer Francesco Cavalli (1602-1676) has put together an extensive and fantastic oeuvre, which was imitated by Purcell, who based his lamento style on Cavalli's ideas. For  O mio core singer Nicolas Achten chooses a series of arias, duets, lamenti and instrumental interludes from Cavalli's masterpieces  Il Giasone ,  La Calisto  and  La Didone . Piet Arfeuille and Bart Clement provide a scenic translation.

Barokensemble Scherzi Musicali brengt in O mio core drie operafragmenten van Francesco Cavalli over het thema van de gebroken liefde, in een regie van Piet Arfeuille.

Ik sluit mijn ogen en droom van die van jou. Want in de verrukking van het verlangen is de mens een God. Onsterfelijk, als kinderen die de zon in hun armen dragen. Blaas niet je zuchten in mij, mijn liefste, geef mij geen judaskus. Ongenaakbaar willen we niet zijn. Verfris mijn slapen, en mijn verschroeide lippen. O mio core voert drie mythische liefdeskoppels ten tonele. Jason en Medea, voor één keer in perfecte harmonie. De liefde als droom. Didone en Enea, loodrecht tegenover elkaar omdat liefde steevast  moet wijken voor ambitie, het hart voor het hoofd. Omdat mannen nu eenmaal mannen zijn, vrouwen vrouwen. En ten slotte de dolende Calisto waar onsterfelijke Zeus zijn oog op laat vallen. Omdat de mens en de liefde blijvend en uniek is. Ook als de omgeving een verwoest geloof daarin weerspiegelt.Met 27 opera’s schreef de Venetiaanse barokcomponist Francesco  Cavalli (1602-1676) een omvangrijk en fantastisch oeuvre bij elkaar, dat ondermeer navolging kende bij Purcell die zijn lamento-stijl baseerde op Cavalli’s ideeën. Voor O mio core kiest zanger Nicolas Achten een reeks aria’s, duetten, lamenti en instrumentale tussenspelen uit Cavalli’s meesterwerken Il Giasone, La Calisto en La Didone. Piet Arfeuille en Bart Clement zorgen voor een scènische vertaling.
