This musical comedy was Reynaldo Hahn’s second collaboration with Sacha Guitry, after Mozart (1925). The composer was then enjoying well-deserved fame in the light lyric genres: after Ciboulette (1923), he had scored success after success in the smaller theatres of Paris (Le Temps d’aimer, Une revue, Brummel), and Ô mon bel inconnu came as no disappointment. Le Figaro singled out the “elegance of tone and distinction of form” so characteristic of Hahn in the interwar period, while regarding him as the rightful heir of André Messager. Le Ménestrel was just as enthusiastic: ‘The music of Monsieur Reynaldo Hahn fits the subject with a versatility and sureness of touch which are something of a miracle. It shows an incomparable refinement and tact and, at the same time, a wit that does not preclude emotion. It is enhanced by an orchestration that is brisk, incisive and transparent.’

Questa commedia musicale è il frutto della seconda collaborazione lirica tra Sacha Guitry e Reynaldo Hahn, dopo Mozart (1925). Il compositore gode di meritata fama nei generi lirici leggeri: dopo Ciboulette (1923), i suoi successi sulle scene dei teatri parigini minori si moltiplicano (Le Temps d’aimer, Une revue, Brummel). Ô mon bel inconnu non è da meno: «Le Figaro» vi nota “l’eleganza del tono e la distinzione della forma” propria dello Hahn del periodo tra le due guerre, riconoscendo in lui il legittimo successore di André Messager. Anche «Le Ménestrel» è entusiasta: “La musica di M. Reynaldo Hahn corrisponde al suo soggetto con una duttilità e una sicurezza di tocco che hanno del miracoloso, dando prova di una distinzione e di un tatto incomparabili, nonché di una verve che non esclude l’emozione. È arricchita da un’orchestrazione vivace, al contempo graffiante e chiara”.

Cette comédie musicale est la seconde collaboration lyrique de Sacha Guitry et Reynaldo Hahn, après Mozart (1925). Le compositeur connaît alors une célébrité méritée dans les genres lyriques légers : depuis Ciboulette (1923), il multiplie les  succès sur les théâtres secondaires parisiens (Le Temps d’aimer, Une revue, Brummel) qu’Ô mon bel inconnu ne dément pas. Le Figaro y retrouve "l’élégance du ton et la distinction de la forme" propre au Hahn de l’entre-deux-guerres tout en voyant en lui le successeur légitime d’André Messager. Le Ménestrel s’enthousiasme également : "La musique de M. Reynaldo Hahn s’identifie au sujet avec une souplesse et une sureté de touche qui tiennent du miracle. Elle témoigne d’une distinction, d’un tact incomparables, et en même temps d’une verve qui n’exclut pas l’émotion. Elle se rehausse d’une orchestration alerte, mordante et transparente à la fois."
