Istanbul Music Festival in its 50th Anniversary! The first event of İKSV and the flagship of all Istanbul Festivals, the Festival, which was held for the first time in 1973, in its 50th anniversary, dedicates its theme to Istanbul, this beautiful and special city that has hosted different cultures throughout its rich history and gave its name to festivals for half a century. The 50th Istanbul Music Festival begins with the theme of “Istanbul”!

The Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, known as the “Voice of the Three Seas” at the Opening Concert and proudly making a name for itself with the projects it has realized so far, will accompany one of today's star pianists, Kirill Gerstein, together with its permanent conductor and artistic director Aziz Shokhakimov.

Kirill Gerstein combines Russian, American and Central European musical traditions and insights with endless curiosity. These qualities, as well as the relationships he developed with orchestras, conductors, musicians, singers and composers, lead him to explore a wide range of repertoire, both new and old. As critics put it, “Gerstein belongs to the class of classical pianists most famous for his distinctive soundscape and extremely universal understanding of music.” Last season, the artist gave concerts with ensembles such as the Royal Concertgebouw and NDR Elbphilharmonie, Camerata Salzburg, Chicago Symphony under the direction of Alan Gilbert, toured many times and performed an unforgettable recital at Wigmore Hall.

Istanbul Music Festival once again says hello to Istanbul with Ferit Tüzün 's Nasreddin Hodja , Tchaikovsky's impressive 1st Piano Concerto , and Symphonic Dances  from Bernstein's West Side Story, where love meets music

İstanbul Müzik Festivali 50. yılında! İKSV’nin ilk etkinliği ve tüm İstanbul Festivallerinin amiral gemisi olan, ilk kez 1973 yılında gerçekleşen Festival 50. yılında temasını İstanbul’a, zengin tarihi boyunca farklı kültürlere ev sahipliği yapan ve yarım asırdır festivallere adını veren bu güzel ve özel şehre adıyor. “İstanbul” temasıyla 50. İstanbul Müzik Festivali başlıyor!

Açılış Konseri’nde “Üç Denizin Sesi” olarak anılan, bugüne kadar gerçekleştirdiği projelerle adından gururla bahsettiren Tekfen Filarmoni Orkestrası, daimi şefi ve sanat direktörü Aziz Shokhakimov ile birlikte günümüzün yıldız piyanistlerinden Kirill Gerstein’a eşlik edecek.

Kirill Gerstein, Rus, Amerikan ve Orta Avrupa müzik geleneklerini ve anlayışlarını sonsuz bir merakla birleştiriyor. Bu nitelikleri ve aynı zamanda orkestralar, şefler, müzisyenler, şancılar ve bestecilerle geliştirdiği ilişkiler, onu hem yeni hem de eski geniş bir repertuvar yelpazesini keşfetmeye yöneltiyor. Eleştirmenlerin dediği gibi “Gerstein, yarattığı kendine özgü ses dünyası ve son derece evrensel müzik anlayışıyla en ünlü klasik piyanistler sınıfına giriyor.” Sanatçı, geçtiğimiz sezon Alan Gilbert yönetiminde Royal Concertgebouw ve NDR Elbphilharmonie, Camerata Salzburg, Chicago Symphony gibi topluluklarla konserler verdi, pek çok turne gerçekleştirdi ve Wigmore Hall’da unutulmaz bir resitale imza attı, kayıtlarıyla geçtiğimiz yıl ICMA (Uluslararası Klasik Müzik Ödülü), 2020 Gramophone ve üç Grammy adaylığını içeren etkileyici bir dizi ödül aldı.

Ferit Tüzün’ün Nasreddin Hoca adlı eseri, Çaykovski'nin etkileyici 1. Piyano Konçertosu ve aşkın müzikle buluştuğu, Bernstein’ın Batı Yakasının Hikâyesi’nden Senfonik Danslar’la İstanbul Müzik Festivali bir kez daha İstanbul’a merhaba diyor!
