C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous avons appris la disparition de Nicholas Angelich, décédé le 18 avril 2022 des suites d’une longue maladie. Ces deux concerts sont maintenus, avec un programme modifié.

Les pianistes française et chinoise Nathalia Milstein et Jenny Wan se joignent au chef chinois Xu Zhong dans un programme embrassant trois continents en une soirée.

Dernier élève d’Olivier Messiaen, Qigang Chen a réussi avec Les Cinq Éléments la fusion des traditions européenne et chinoise. Inspirée du Yi King, (Livre de transformations, classique chinois qui établit une conception de l’univers qui imprègne encore la pensée chinoise), l’œuvre évoque successivement le métal, le bois, l’eau, le feu et la terre, comme autant de symboles sonores.

Concentré sur le dialogue des deux solistes, le Concerto n° 10 fut composé par Mozart dans l'intention de le jouer en duo avec sa sœur Nannerl. Les échanges de motifs et les accompagnements mutuels en façonnent l’élégance, Mozart ne se privant pas des découvertes faites lors de son séjour à Mannheim, et accordant une importance notable à ce troisième soliste qu'est l'orchestre.
 
Majestueuse, épique et populaire entre toutes, la Symphonie « Du Nouveau Monde » orchestre avec un brio inégalable la rencontre de l’Europe centrale avec le folklore américain. On rapporte que Dvořák, présent dans la salle lors de la création new-yorkaise de 1938, dut se lever à la fin de chaque mouvement pour "saluer comme un roi".

French and Chinese pianists Nathalia Milstein and Jenny Wan join conductor Xu Zhong in a program spanning three continents in one evening.

The last student of Olivier Messiaen, Qigang Chen succeeded with The Five Elements in merging European and Chinese traditions. Inspired by the Yi King ( Book of Transformations , a Chinese classic that establishes a conception of the universe that still permeates Chinese thought), the work successively evokes metal, wood, water, fire and earth, as so many sound symbols.

Focusing on the dialogue of the two soloists, Concerto No. 10 was composed by Mozart with the intention of playing it in duet with his sister Nannerl. The exchanges of motives and the mutual accompaniments shape its elegance, Mozart not depriving himself of the discoveries made during his stay in Mannheim, and granting a notable importance to this third soloist that is the orchestra.
 
Majestic, epic and popular among all, the “ New World ” Symphony orchestrates with unrivaled brilliance the encounter between Central Europe and American folklore. It is reported that Dvořák, present in the hall during the 1938 New York premiere, had to rise at the end of each movement to "salute like a king".
