The Emmanuel Choir with members of the Peabody Children’s Chorus. The story of today’s Santa Claus begins with the early-Christian bishop Nicolas of Myra, who was known for his generosity to those in need and for his love for children. Following his death in the year 343, he was made a Saint by the church, and the vibrant stories of his life — and abundant acts of generosity — continue to inspire and influence our modern-day Christmas celebrations.
