As part of our mini festival of accordion music, Djordje Gaic and Ryan Corbett perform Stravinsky’s classic and colourful ballet score reduced from orchestra to two instruments in an astonishing display of virtuosity, theatricality and musicianship. Festival director Alasdair Nicolson’s Squeeze was originally written for Dutch Radio and nods to a jazz style with its quirky and energetic finale. The programme begins with one of Bach’s large organ works transcribed for accordion duet and filling the cathedral with rich sounds and grandeur.
