A program crossed by rhythm in all its forms. The introduction is made with the impressive subtilo con forza (2020) by the South Korean composer Unsuk Chin, a concentrate of energy and explosions, thanks in particular to the important percussion section. Then, the swaying swaying of the Argentine tango invites itself into this evening, between Buenos Aires, New York and Paris. Piazzolla marvelously knows how to blur the boundaries between jazz and classical to keep only the purest emotion in his Aconcagua(1979), roof of America and absolute summit of his work. Finally, here is Rachmaninoff's symphonic swan song with its nocturnal waltz as its central movement: memories parade between the bells of his native Russia, paradise lost forever, and his new homeland with an alto saxophone lurch evoking Broadway.

Un programme traversé par le rythme sous toutes ses formes. L’entrée en matière se fait avec l’impressionnant subito con forza (2020) de la compositrice sud-coréenne Unsuk Chin, concentré d’énergies et de déflagrations, notamment grâce à l’importante section de percussions. Puis, le déhanchement chaloupé du tango argentin s’invite dans cette soirée, entre Buenos Aires, New York et Paris. Piazzolla sait merveilleusement estomper les frontières entre jazz et classique pour ne garder que l’émotion la plus pure dans son Aconcagua (1979), toit de l’Amérique et sommet absolu de son oeuvre. Enfin, voici le chant du cygne symphonique de Rachmaninov avec sa valse nocturne en guise de mouvement central : les souvenirs défilent entre les cloches de sa Russie natale, paradis perdu à jamais, et sa nouvelle patrie avec une embardée au saxophone alto évoquant Broadway.
