A story published in 1834 by A.S. Pushkin's "The Queen of Spades" half a century later found a new life on the opera stage. The librettist Modest Tchaikovsky, taking a literary work as a basis, changed the storyline, used the means of mystification, and expanded the scope of the protagonist's personal tragedy.
The opera The Queen of Spades, created with inspiration by Tchaikovsky in 44 days, was first performed in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theater on December 19, 1890. On the stage of the Stalin (Donetsk) State Russian Opera and Ballet Theater, the premiere of The Queen of Spades took place for the first time in December 1945. The second the edition of the premiere took place in February 1972 directed by Alexander Zdikhovsky. On October 6 and 7, 2018, the Donbass Opera presented to the audience the premiere of the third edition of The Queen of Spades by P.I. Tchaikovsky.

Short description.
The Queen of Spades is considered a symbol of something mystical and insidious, like, in fact, the cards themselves.

Herman learns that the old countess knows three always winning cards. But how do you get this secret out of her? And will these three mysterious cards bring him happiness? What will his relationship with Lisa be like when he learns the three winning cards and is able to get rich?

Our dreams and plans do not always come true, life can play a cruel joke with a person ...
