Biblický operný epos s jednou z najznámejších operných melódií - slávnym Zborom Židov - na scéne SND hudobne naštudoval taliansky dirigent Pietro Rizzo a režíroval český režisér Tomáš Ondřej Pilař. V titulnej role babylonského kráľa sa predstaví barytonista Daniel Luis de Vicente v alternácii s Danielom Čapkovičom.

Dcéru Abigail zaspieva Maida Hundeling a Jolana Fogašová, v úlohe Ismaela sa alternujú Tomáš Juhás a Josef Moravec a ako Zachariáša uvidíme Petra Mikuláša a Jozefa Benciho.

Opera SND uvádza Verdiho majstrovské dielo v dvoch premiérach - už 𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝟗. 𝟗. 𝐚 𝟏. 𝟏𝟎. a v bloku repríz 𝟑., 𝟓., 𝐚 𝟔. 𝟏𝟎. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑.

Tretia opera Giuseppe Verdiho Nabucco priniesla skladateľovi prvý úspech. Monumentálna operná freska je zmesou histórie a fikcie a jej úspech spočíva najmä v pôsobivých masových scénach, efektných belkantových áriách a zborových výstupoch. Babylončania pod vedením kráľa Nabucca vtrhnú do Jeruzalema, zničia Šalamúnov chrám a židovský národ odvlečú do zajatia. Boh Židov Jahve však potrestá kráľa tým, že naňho zošle šialenstvo. Nabucco, ktorý musí čeliť aj intrigám svojej domnelej dcéry Abigail, napokon rozpozná svoju vinu, uzná moc a vznešenosť Boha Jahveho a vráti Židom slobodu. Známy Zbor Židov sa v období vzniku opery stal aktualizovaným symbolom túžby Talianov po slobode a nezávislosti.

Nabucco, the third opera by Giuseppe Verdi, brought the composer his first success. This historical opera fresco is a fusion of history and fiction, and its success relies mainly on its impressive crowd scenes and choral performances. The Babylonians, led by King Nabucco, invaded Jerusalem, destroyed Solomon's Temple, and took the Jewish people captive. However, the God of the Jews, Jehovah, punishes the king by inflicting madness on him. Nabucco, who must also face the intrigues of his presumed daughter Abigail, finally recognises his culpability, acknowledges the power and majesty of God Jehovah, and restores freedom to the Jews. The well-known Jewish Chorus became an actualised symbol of the Italians' desire for freedom and independence at the time of the opera’s composition.

Mit seiner dritten Oper Nabucco schaffte der Komponist Giuseppe Verdi seinen ersten Durchbruch. Das historische Opern-Fresko ist eine Mischung aus Geschichte und Fiktion und sein Erfolg beruht insbesondere auf den eindrucksvollen Massenszenen und Chorauftritten. Die Babylonier angeführt von König Nabucco stürmen Jerusalem, sie zerstören Salomons Tempel und das hebräische Volk wird in Gefangenschaft verschleppt. Der Gott der Hebräer, Jahwe bestraft den König mit Wahnsinn. Nabucco, der den Intrigen seiner vermeintlichen Tochter Abigaille trotzen muss, erkennt schließlich seine Schuld, er erkennt die Macht und Erhabenheit des Gottes Jahwe an und er schenkt den Juden die Freiheit. Der berühmte Chor der Hebräer wurde zur Entstehungszeit der Oper zum Symbol der Sehnsucht der Italiener nach Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit.
