The premiere of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in 1785 took place when the Austrian composer’s popularity in Vienna was at a high. Prolonged until the last moment, the work was only finished the day before it was due to be performed, which occurred to rapturous applause. As usual, Mozart himself played solo and conducted the orchestra from his piano. Risto Joost, a young maestro whose star has been rising in recent years, will conduct both the Gulbenkian Orchestra and pianist Raúl da Costa, pairing this work tonally with Requiem in D Minor, one of Mozart’s finest pieces.

A estreia do Concerto para Piano n.º 20 de Mozart, em 1785, teve lugar num momento de grande popularidade do compositor austríaco em Viena. Prolongada até ao último momento, a escrita da obra só fora terminada na véspera, mas foi recebida com grande entusiasmo. Como habitualmente, o próprio Mozart assumiu o lugar do solista e dirigiu a orquestra a partir do piano. Risto Joost, um dos jovens maestros em trajetória marcadamente ascendente nos últimos anos, dirige a Orquestra Gulbenkian e o pianista Raúl da Costa, emparelhando tonalmente a obra com o Requiem, em Ré menor, uma das incontornáveis criações de Mozart.
