Après Sol Gabetta dans Chostakovitch, promesse d’un moment captivant, Tugan Sokhiev fait résonner l’envoûtante Septième Symphonie de Bruckner. Qui mieux que la Staatskapelle de Dresde pour en magnifier le lyrisme ?

Créé en 1959 par l’illustre Rostropovitch, le Concerto pour violoncelle n°1 de Chostakovitch, dont un des motifs parcourra le Quatuor à cordes n° 8 du créateur russe, est une œuvre redoutable, tant pour le soliste que pour l’orchestre – d’importantes parties sont dévolues au cor et aux timbales. La Symphonie n° 7 valut à Bruckner son plus grand succès lors de sa création à Berlin en 1884. Dédiée à Louis II de Bavière, elle constitue également un hommage à Wagner, mort l’année précédente, auquel le compositeur autrichien vouait une grande admiration. Son poignant Adagio – brillamment utilisé par Luchino Visconti dans son film Senso – fait office d’immense et inoubliable tombeau au grand disparu.
