Auch der zweite Doppelabend mit dem LSO kreist um das Thema »Tanz« und stellt Liszts »Totentanz« – einen Variationszyklus über das »Dies irae« für Klavier und Orchester – mit Pianistin Alice Sara Ott in den Mittelpunkt. Anschließend präsentiert sich das LSO als versiertes Filmorchester mit einem der in der Filmgeschichte meistgenutzten Orchesterwerke: Strauss’ Tondichtung »Also sprach Zarathustra«, die nicht nur durch Stanley Kubricks Film »2001: Odyssee im Weltraum« jedem im Ohr ist.

The second double evening with the LSO also revolves around the theme of »dance« and focuses on Liszt’s »Totentanz« – a cycle of variations on the »Dies irae« for piano and orchestra – with pianist Alice Sara Ott. The LSO then presents itself as an experienced film orchestra with one of the most widely used orchestral works in film history: Strauss' tone poem »Also Sprach Zarathustra«, which is on everyone's mind not only through Stanley Kubrick's film »2001: A Space Odyssey«.
