Joan Lamote de Grignon is a very important figure in the history of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona because he led the transformation towards interpretative excellence of this formation and placed it on the map of European bands. On the 150th anniversary of his birth, the Band pays tribute to him as a composer with such interesting works as the sardana La rosa del folló or the scherzo based on the popular Catalan song La filadora . The suite from the opera Déjanire by Saint-Saëns also illustrates his work as an instrumentalist and transports us to his sound world. 2022 is also the year in which the centenary of the birth of Manuel Oltra, a composer and pedagogue of Valencian roots who lived and developed his professional career in Barcelona, ​​is commemorated. Well-known for his sardanas and choral pieces, this concert has been programmed with works of greater scope, such as the Rhapsody for piano and wind instruments or the symphonic poem L'alimara .
