On Sunday 5th November 2023, 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 shall be presenting the latest entry in the 𝐕𝐈𝐏 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, which will be taking place on the premises of Dubai Opera in the UAE. 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, the concert will feature the talents of two Austrian maestros – pianist 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐍ö𝐛𝐚𝐮𝐞𝐫, the First Prize winner at the 2021 Piano Competition of Hildegard Maschmann Foundation and 2023 ‘Classic on Danube’ International Piano Competition, prizewinner at the 2018 International Summer Academy Competition, and recipient of the Musica Juventutis Prize, as well as harpist 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤, a prizewinner in multiple international competitions, recipient of the Young Celebrity Master award from ‘HarpMasters’, and musical ambassador for the New Austrian Sound of Music. Nöbauer shall be the first to open proceedings, starting with Robert Schumann’s Arabeske in C major, a work written by a young Schumann in 1839. Next comes Alexey Shor and Mikhail Pletnev’s Piano Sonata in A Minor, a stunning collaboration from two of the most exciting contemporary artists of our time, after which Nöbauer will present Franz Schubert’s famously technically demanding 1822 work, Fantasie in C major, also known as the Wanderer Fantasy. Finally, the Austrian pianist will close off the first half of the concert with Claude Debussy’s joyful 1904 composition, L‘Isle Joyeuse. 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐥, Plank will take to the stage to present a series of four works, starting with Alfred Zamara’s Mes premières pensées, a romance for the harp, which will be followed by Louis Spohr’s Variations pour la harpe, sur l’air ‘Je suis encore dans mon printemps’. Next comes Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto for solo harp No. 5, in an arrangement by the soloist herself, before the concert is concluded with Elias Parish-Alvars’s ‘Scenes of my Youth’, a Grande Fantaisie for the harp.
