In der Philharmonie Luxembourg beschäftigen sich Grigory Sokolov im Dezember 2024 und Lang Lang im April 2025 mit dieser wichtigen Werkgruppe Chopins. Beide stellen die Mazurken einem Schumann-Klavierzyklus gegenüber. Grigory Sokolov hat die Waldszenen ausgesucht – neun kurze Stücke, aus denen Schumanns Sinn für Poesie ebenso spricht wie für die Romantik so typische Naturverbundenheit.

Grigory Sokolov will perform this milestone of Chopin's oeuvre at the Philharmonie Luxembourg in December 2024, and Lang Lang in April 2025. Both juxtapose the mazurkas iwith a piano cycle by Robert Schumann. Grigory Sokolov has selected the delightful Waldszenen (Forest Scenes) – nine short pieces which reveal Schumann's sense of poetry as well as the closeness to nature so characteristic of the Romantic movement.
